‘Jesus is coming soon, believe me he’s coming soon’ – This was the words of one dear man, sat on a street corner near Covent Garden, London, he had his sleeping bag tucked around him in silent devotion but he had a hope and he was ready to meet his saviour. Another man I read of recently said ‘I had to pause and ask myself what I’d want to be doing if Christ returned today. And I found myself answering from Matthew chapter 24&25… to take my talents and invest them (where the need was).’
It’s a challenge how ready am I or you, are we sleeping? Are satisfied with everything?
Many are saying Christianity is dying out but Gods people will be delivered. Every one that shall be found written in the book.
From Garrets, from hovels, from dungeons, from scaffolds, from mountains and deserts, from the caves of the earth and the caverns of the sea, Christ Jesus will gather His children to Himself. – Christ’s Object Lessons.
Are you written in that book, do you believe in Jesus as you saviour?
We sometime wonder why thing happen. We all go through trials and temptations but the trick is to Preserve in Prayer. The test is we may become discouraged and fail to preserve in prayer. What God wants from us is that through tests, trials and temptations that we become purer, holier and happier. Remember don’t forget to pray!
Prayer has ‘Subdues kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire’ – How often do we pray? What is impossible to Man is possible with God
‘But Jesus said to him, no one, having put his hand to the plough ,and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.’ – Luke 9v62
Any farmer will tell you the importance of setting the plough in a straight line and select a church steeple, house or tree to link up. Then you plough keeping your eye on the objective – if you follow you inclination you glance behind to check its deep enough and if you do you will probably cause a small kink but by the end of the field it was be a very large kink.
If we don’t know farming the same happens in the car, we change the CD player or we are looking behind us to much or sometimes the phone goes, the second of taking out eyes off what is ahead causes swerving and sometimes a little bump or a big bang, just because we set our eyes on something else.
Same in our lives ask for forgiveness and don’t look back don’t take our eyes of Jesus, keep pressing on with the good work, put yesterday behind you, Jesus has dealt with it move enjoy and the ages to come. Set your eyes on Jesus Christ and don’t look behind you.
‘But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry’ – 2 Tim 4v5
We should do the work of an evangelist, that is, preach the Gospel, witness for Christ, give out tracts, do evangelistic studies with others. We should fulfil our ministry, that is, serve to the end doing God’s will. – Carl Knott.
