Serving God’s purpose in our generation

David served God’s purpose in his generation – Acts 13v36 He was a man after Gods heart, fulfilling Gods purposes on earth. You do the eternal & timeless (God’s purpose) in a contempory and timely way (in your generation). Neither past nor future generations can serve Gods purpose in this generation. Only we can. Like Esther, God created you ‘for such a time as this’. God is still looking for people to use ‘ The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order the strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him.’ Will you serve God’s purpose in your generation? One day history will close, but eternity will go on forever.

Understand what God sees when He looks at you!

In the early 1500’s a twenty-five-year-old artist and sculptor laboured tirelessly with hammer and chisel over a colossal block of cold marble. Other artists had rejected the stone because it had defects, so it sat untouched for several decades before this young sculptor saw something beautiful in it. He worked night and day with obsessive dedication. When someone asked him why he was working so hard on that old stone, he replied, ‘Because there is an angel in that rock that wants to come out’. Nearly three years after starting his work, the young artist, Michelangelo, unveiled his enduring masterpiece: a seventeen-foot-tall sculpture that today is known the world over as David.

Seek Him and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

In Lamentations 3:22-26 the prophet Jeremiah, after he had gone through a time of severe affliction which caused his soul to sink within him, came to this conclusion with regard to the LORD:

22 The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases;
His mercies never come to an end;
23 they are new every morning;
great is Your faithfulness.
24 “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul,
“therefore I will hope in Him.”

25 The LORD is good to those who wait for Him,
to the soul who seeks Him.
26 It is good that one should wait quietly
for the salvation of the LORD.

I have highlighted a few words in verses 25 and 26 and would like to ask you to take a moment to seek Him and wait quietly for Him so that you can also come to the same conclusion as the prophet. Why not embrace this scripture and hide it in your heart until you know it off by heart. I urge you, seek Him and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

Genesis 9 v 12-13 The rainbow that I have put in the sky will be my sign to you and to every living creature on earth. It will remind you that I will keep this promise forever. 14 When I send clouds over the earth, and a rainbow appears in the sky, 15 I will remember my promise to you and to all other living creatures. Never again will I let floodwaters destroy all life.16 When I see the rainbow in the sky, I will always remember the promise that I have made to every living creature.17 The rainbow will be the sign of that solemn promise.
